چکیده

663 skeletal muscle metastasis are uncertain. A previous report recommended that skeletal muscle metastases be treated palliatively if they occur together with systemic metastasis, but an isolated metastatic neoplasm can be resected operatively with or without radiotherapy [3,4]. Although some authors have proposed performing contralateral prophylactic mastectomy, randomized controlled trials to assess the overall survival benefit of this procedure in breast cancer patients have never been carried out, and its efficacy is therefore unclear [5]. This report presented a rare case of a breast cancer metastasis into the gluteal muscle that was completely resected operatively after confirming the diagnosis with a preoperative needle biopsy. In patients with an intramuscular mass, it is necessary to proceed with a suspicion of metastatic cancer, even though metastasis to muscle tissue is rare.

Extensive Osteochondroma of Talus Presenting as Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome: Report of a case and Literature Review

Osteochondroma or exostosis is the most common benign bone tumor, and occurring frequently in the proximal humerus, tibia, and distal femur. It rarely affects talus. Osteochondroma of talus is a very rare etiology of tarsal tunnel syndrome (TTS). We report a rare case of extensive osteochondroma of the talus in a 60 year old female presenting with multiple swellings around the ankle and sympt...

Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis with Frontal Bone Indentation by an Adjoining Primary Soft Tissue Lesion in a 17-Month-Old Asian Male Child

665 approaches have been used, including a preauricular approach with or without extension to a temporal, hemicoronal incision, submandibular approach, preauricular and intraoral approach, and modified Blair incision. The preauricular approach, either on its own or in combination with cervical incisions, is the most popular approach [4]. However, the conventional surgical approach seems to be l...

Surgical excision of osteochondroma on mandibular condyle via preauricular approach with zygomatic arch osteotomy

Background Osteochondroma is a benign tumor that tends to develop in mandibular condyle and coronoid process in the craniofacial region. If tumor mass has grown from condyle into the infratemporal space with zygomatic arch obstructing the access, there are risks associated with surgical exposure and local resection of these masses. Case presentation This study reports on a case of osteochondr...

An unusually large osteochondroma of the mandibular angle: a case report

BACKGROUND Osteochondroma is a benign bone tumor that can occur in both the mesenchymal and craniofacial bones. However, craniofacial osteochondromas are extremely rare, because the mandible develops by intramembranous ossification rather than by endochondral ossification. CASE PRESENTATION The most common site of craniofacial osteochondroma is the mandibular condyle, followed by the coronoid...

Endoscopic resection of symptomatic osteochondroma of the distal femur.

The surgical risk and complication rates for an open excision of a benign osteochondroma have been reported as high as 13%. The advent of minimally invasive techniques allows a surgical resection with a smaller incision and a potential for less postoperative morbidity. We presumed endoscopic resection of symptomatic osteochondroma of the distal femur would decrease postoperative morbidity of op...

Osteochondroma of the mandibular condyle: literature review and report of a case.

AIM The intent of this report is to present a brief review of the literature on osteochondroma and to present a case involving the surgical removal and replacement of a major portion of the condyle and angle of the mandible using free autogenous mandibular bone. BACKGROUND While osteochondroma is the most common tumor of skeletal bones, it is relatively uncommon in the jaws occurring at the c...
